FUNDRAISING TRAILER |

“Bill is extremely sharp about pulling strong sound bites and
structuring them in a compelling fashion. He has great energy and it
comes thru in his work.” |
 |
|
“I had a 10-min fundraising trailer and needed a snappy, funny
version that would “pop” on YouTube. I let Bill run with it and the
result was playful and right on target.” |

"Bill has updated my reels for several years. When he’s integrating a
new clip into the mix or creating a reel from scratch, he finds fresh
ways to maximize the overall impact.” |
 |
|
“When I hand Bill a 54-min piece, he always comes up with a deft
distillation that gets to the heart of the story and illuminates
the material.” |

“We shot audience interviews at our test screenings and Bill wove
them into a strong TV-style promo that’s become our main tool to
find finishing funds.” |
 |
“Bill found the right (royalty-free) music to
make my paintings come alive. A “gallery
version” plays on monitors during exhibitions and a “portfolio
version" goes to
potential buyers.” |

For two decades, Bill edited dozens of
trailers for major studio features, working for top-rank trailer
companies in Hollywood and for the marketing department at Paramount
Pictures.
In
2004, Bill stepped away from commercial entertainment to open his own
editing service to devote more time to documentaries and
humanitarian projects. He has established himself as the go-to trailer expert
among documentary and independent film producers. He is often asked
to speak and critique trailers in seminars hosted by Carole Dean and
other high-profile members in the documentary community. His
regularly scheduled “Trailer Clinics” help give filmmakers the tips
and tools to improve their fundraising trailers. He has also written
articles on the subject for documentary publications.
Through his company, Divertimento Prods, Bill works in association
with other industry specialists in motion graphics, writing and
production shoots so projects and costs can be sized to the needs of
each client and situation.
